Unawatuna - Beruwela

Közzétett: 27.02.2020

The journey from Unawatuna to Beruwela was already spectacular in itself. One dream beach followed another. In Hikkaduwa we had the tuktuk serviced (or do you say greased?) because we had already covered 1,000 km with it. Actually, we wanted to take a look at Hikkaduwa, but it was so similar to Mirissa that we spared ourselves.

On the way, we made a stop at a turtle breeding station. I personally didn't like it because I don't consider it appropriate. Some female turtles live for five years, and those with disabilities even for a lifetime, in desolate, quite small concrete pools. I also dislike the buying of eggs (we would say from poachers) and keeping numerous newly hatched babies in a bare pool for a whole week without changing the water (tourists are also allowed to reach in without washing their hands...). In my opinion, the country should regulate this much more strictly; maybe a label would also help to bring tourists and providers onto the right track. Nevertheless, it was interesting and of course, the babies are very cute.

In Beruwela, we stayed at the Ypsylon Tourist Resort. The average age of the guests is estimated to be 68.8 years and the beach is average. But the hotel is good and it cannot be as beautiful as in Tangalle everywhere, we are probably quite spoiled :)
