Cameron Highlands

Közzétett: 19.01.2019

After a 5 ½ hour bus ride, we arrived in Cameron Highlands around 4:00 PM. The climate and weather conditions were completely different from before, as we were now at an altitude of about 1400 meters. The chosen hotel was much more comfortable and modern than we had imagined. In light drizzle, we immediately went to the bus station upon arrival to buy our bus ticket for Lumut the next day and book a tour for the next morning in Cameron Highlands. Everything fit perfectly into our schedule. In the evening, we ended the day at an Indian restaurant with curry, naan, and tea. Exhausted but happy, we fell into our comfortable bed.

The next morning, the alarm clock rang at 6:30 AM. After a quick local breakfast, the group gathered for the booked tour in front of our hotel. Packed into a Landrover, the tour started on time. The first attraction was the Mossy Forest at an altitude of about 2000 meters. The forest is almost always covered in fog, so all the trees and shrubs are covered in moss. Fortunately, we dressed warmly enough as the temperature was only around 8 degrees. The guide told many interesting details about the plants and animals in the region.

Next up were the famous tea plantations. Huge areas are covered with the intensively bright green plant. The tea plants are mainly harvested every three weeks by Nepalese and Indian guest workers. Afterwards, we visited the tea factory and tea shop. There, we also had the opportunity to taste the local tea. The tour ended at 1:00 PM. We still had time for lunch before heading to the bus station. Another 5 ½ hour bus ride was ahead of us. Next destination: Pulau Pangkor Island.
