Grimstad - the Ibsen village

Közzétett: 22.07.2020

There are three museums about Henrik Ibsen in Norway. The one in Oslo is closed for renovations. The house where he wrote his first plays was also a museum. But it was so small and narrow that it couldn't provide minimum distance in accordance with the current precautions, so it wasn't open.

Nevertheless, I looked at the house from the outside, then I walked through Grimstad, the small town is known for its narrow streets and its white wooden houses. Once to the harbor and back, I discovered another house, the pharmacy, where he used to work back then.

Knut Hamsun also lived near Grimstad. But even without these famous personalities, Grimstad has something to offer: statistically, the town has the most sunny days in the kingdom! The following quote from H. Ibsen fits well:

«Longing for light is the commandment of life.»
