Borjomi was covered in snow, it was clever of me to go to the mountains. After having coffee with Natalia, I wanted to continue as long as the roads still looked somewhat reliable. Despite everything, I made good progress until Khashuri, where I stocked up at the bakery. I definitely missed bakeries with coffee in Turkey!
The route from Khashuri to Gori was not particularly scenic, especially since I had to share the roads with many trucks. It snowed for most of the day, but the sky calmed down a bit just before Gori. The branch of 'Heidelberg Clement' was definitely a surprise! The workers there wondered why I had to stop to take pictures of their business. Later, I stayed with David, who is renovating an old country house for guests that his grandpa built back then. I felt very comfortable with him, the rooms were great and there was even a fantastic dinner. Later in the evening, I was invited to a wine and chacha tasting. In his cellar, there were at least ten different homemade chacha varieties, and wine was stored in blue barrels that strongly reminded me of the bins we have in our laboratories. After an extensive tasting, I slept deeply and soundly.
