The next report should actually only come out from France around mid-September. BUT often things turn out differently than expected. The recurring rain in Istria drove us out of Croatia. Austria wasn't an option at first. Constant rain was forecast there. South Tyrol looked good on the weather radar. Planned and implemented without further ado. But here too, it's high season for hikers, bikers and all connoisseurs. At the same time, finding a nice campsite was not an easy task. 3 attempts equals 3 rejections. The last of the three sites, Camping Montiggl in Vinschgau, had a kind of RV site in front of the barrier. The traffic light turned green, which meant there was a space available. But we only really find these types of places good as an emergency solution. You can't take out the awning, the neighbor is literally within your reach. The gourmand in us won out during this stay; the campsite has an excellent restaurant. We ordered a bottle of a very tasty Vinschgau rosé and shared something classic from South Tyrolean cuisine as a starter, cheese dumplings on coleslaw. Since our eyes are often bigger than our hunger, there was then a large pizza for everyone. I didn't manage mine ;)
The next morning we started another great overland trip through the beautiful Vinschgau, over the Reschen Pass and over the Hahntennjoch. A little explanation now and then. We, Ralf and Elke, have made an agreement. Ralf drives, he loves it. I don't love it, I'm kind of a bit of a creep too. I'm responsible for the on-board entertainment, location research and now just the writing. Now back to the Hahntennjoch, this was a real challenge for me as a passenger (Schisser ;-) in some places. However, I have to admit that the view was great.
The next stop was in Austria in the Lechtal nature park region. I chose a very nice place, Camping Lechtal, in Vorderhornbach, in the Reute district in Tyrol. There the Hornbach flows into the Lech. In the best hiking weather, we explored the surrounding area on two consecutive days. There are several circular hiking trails with different levels of difficulty. And cyclists can enjoy the Lechtal cycle path or various MTB routes. It was a very pleasant stay in Vorderhornbach. Now the wheels are rolling again and, as written in the previous report, we are off to the family celebration in Weinsberg. And then there really is the next report from France. Greetings from Lulu, Ralf and Elke.
