Tag 12/13 - Cairns

The trip to Cairns once again raised the question of why every airline celebrates its own interpretation of permitted baggage weight.

Although we had an extremely helpful woman to help us check in, we had to redistribute the total weight of our luggage.

When we arrived at the airport in Cairns, a taxi took us to our accommodation. The driver, who felt like he was 10 years older than Volker - really really old - was very talkative and told us a few historical facts about Cairns and gave us tips on things to do.

He warned us against walking on the beach at night - there are saltwater crocodiles here.

Day 13 - 09/22/23

Temperatures in the Grampians 11 C and here in Cairns 30 C.

The newspaper reported that Sydney has unusually high temperatures and in Cairns it is also about 5 degrees higher than usual.

It's going to be hot today and UV is at 8.

We slept in and took the opportunity to do the laundry. Ultimately we will be there until September 27th. stay and tour the area or chill out before we leave on September 28th. fly from Cairns to Auckland / NZL.

We have secured our basic supplies in the local SPAR store.

The manager of our accommodation told us that Australia was 20 years behind the times - especially when it came to the Internet. She just doesn't know Germany...
