Day 10+11 - The Grampians, kangaroos with joeys

We drive about 2 hours to the Grampians, a hiking area in Victoria.

The house we are staying in belongs to an Australian photographer and documentary filmmaker. The place is called Halls Gap and we are cooking here ourselves for the first time. We shopped at: ALDI.

After last night, with little sleep (read for a long time and Karin was also a bit “restless”), we took it easy today. The “announced” kangaroos probably preferred to stay at home because of the strong wind and made themselves comfortable somewhere sheltered from the wind.

We hope that the trees around us can withstand the wind and won't damage our house or car.

Today it was another 22 degrees Celsius, tomorrow we expect a stiff 14 degrees. Karin got a hot water bottle today and is now lying here on the electric blanket that is part of the house equipment. We're cozy and have time to read.

What a contrast to Singapore….

Happy Birthday Annika (30)!!!

Happy Birthday Reshad!!!

The night was restless because it was storming so badly that our cottage, which was in the forest, was repeatedly shaken. We put the patio furniture in and hoped that no heavy branch would fall on our rental car. Karin's bladder is twitching, her first aid kit helps a little.

The temperatures here are around 14 degrees during the day and drop to 10 degrees in the evening. During breakfast, a free-living kangaroo appears in front of our window, accompanied by another who is probably also eating breakfast.

It starts to rain and so during a break in the rain we head to the Pinnacle Lookout, which has a very nice panoramic view at around 800m above sea level. should offer. We take the wrong turn and end up on the equally beautiful Sundial Peak. The clouds part for a brief moment and we enjoy the wide view over the Grampians.

We return to our cottage feeling a little cold and curl up in bed with a newly bought hot water bottle.

A look at the temperature scales shows us that we can expect a warm 28 degrees in Cairns tomorrow evening - great.
