Day 3+4 - Koh Samui

Objavljeno: 26.01.2020

Yesterday we went to Koh Samui in the morning with Bangkok Airways. After Chinese New Year, the hotel advised us to leave even earlier because they expected traffic. The highways were empty and I felt sorry that Samuel could have slept longer and we could have had a relaxed breakfast, but it's better to be safe than to miss the flight. Samuel enjoyed the hour at the gate, going up and down the stairs. He was in a good mood and relaxed, even though he had to wake up after only 6 hours of sleep. He's our little sunny dwarf. The first shock came when we arrived at the plane... I didn't expect such a small propeller plane to fly on its own! But probably it's small because it's old. Well, the flight attendant reassured me and explained that the plane flies so low that it's a very smooth flight. And indeed, it was and the 1 hour 45 minutes passed quickly and without panic. I was only in danger for a moment when I locked myself in the bathroom and couldn't get out. Those who know me know that this happens to me all the time. Why are most airplane bathroom doors sliding doors with a tiny wheel to turn? It was almost embarrassing when I finally found the door handle and freed myself.

When we landed at the airport, the first surprise was that it wasn't as dreamy as I remembered and as we had told Joe. Somehow it lacked the proper atmosphere, for some reason. Samuel fell asleep again during the short taxi ride to the hotel and we had time to check in and unpack in peace and also catch up on some sleep. One hour was not enough for me after another sleepless night. When we woke up, we had some food at the hotel and finally went to the beach. Unfortunately, my fear was confirmed. Samuel didn't want to touch the water or the sand. But that's okay, he still has time to get used to it. In Croatia, he also took his first steps in the sand on the last day. So there is still hope. And who wants to spend the day on Koh Samui lazily at the beach? Samuel didn't sleep well at night, I think he had a little stomachache because I didn't feel well either after the hotel food. And the room is very noisy, every bird chirping would wake him up and he would go "ohhhhh". Thankfully, it's getting better today. But what else can you do besides carrying the baby in circles with the sound of the vacuum cleaner from home playing in the background from midnight until 6:00 in the morning?

Our first impression of Koh Samui was actually quite nice. The Fisherman's Village is 10 minutes away, but the walk there is very exhausting because there is incredible traffic on the main road. It's loud and hectic. On the other side of the road, there are massage parlors one after the other, with laundry facilities and pharmacies in between. So everything you actually need. We used the laundry service today and it was a dream. After 6 hours, all the laundry was washed and ironed and back in our hands, and it only cost 9€. And that was the expensive express fee because we needed Samuel's pajamas in the evening. And now he's sleeping next to me in just a shirt, because he didn't want to wear it anyway. Today, Samuel enjoyed the fantastic playroom and in the afternoon, after his nap, we went to the village to eat and stroll around. After Samuel fell asleep at 9 in the evening, I treated myself to the first massage, conveniently located in front of the hotel. So I can quickly walk there if the little one wakes up. I will definitely miss this on Koh Phangan. And now it's 05:59 again, I've been awake for 3 hours and I'm going to try to get some sleep again.
