Today, the long-awaited journey finally began. Today marks the start of the road trip through New Zealand. I am excited to discover how many diverse and nature-filled regions of New Zealand I will explore. The view from Mount Eden is simply unique, providing a fantastic skyline.
Our last evening in Auckland before our journey towards Cape Reinga began

At 2 pm, the journey finally began. We decided to first explore the northern region of Auckland. The first stage took me to the north. The destination was Kaitaia, a small village south of Cape Reinga and the 'Giant Sand Dunes'. This place is perfect for spending the night and tackling the last few kilometers in the morning at sunrise. The stage took 6 hours, with short breaks in between. I am not under time pressure, at least not yet. At the end of the drive, I was pretty exhausted, as driving on the left side is unusual and tiring, especially in the first few kilometers.
