Swimming with wild dolphins

We decide to stay a little longer at Curio Beach today to observe the dolphins. After breakfast, we go hiking on the cliffs and observe the huge waves crashing against the rocks, spraying water meters high into the air.
After a warm tea, yes, the wind is very chilly, we decide to go into the water to swim with the dolphins. Don't forget sunscreen and plunge into the ice-cold water. I've never been in such cold water before, it feels like tiny needles on the skin. Kay can't make it into the water, too cold. So I start talking to one of the cold-resistant Bernese. Together we observe the dolphins and freeze. And then, after about 20 minutes, it happens! The dolphins swim about 1 meter away from us, around us. The best thing I've ever experienced. And with wild dolphins. If you ever come to New Zealand, do it! Despite the cold, swim with dolphins in the sea. It's an experience for life.

Today we drive to Papatowai for a cheaper campsite. The road runs along the coast and luckily no one is behind me, so I can enjoy the drive past the forest and the sea. The most beautiful stop is at Florence Hill Lookout. A view over a crescent-shaped, golden beach where the small waves, rising from the dark blue sea, break for several meters, all in white.
