Day 15 - a surprising end...π³
Relaxed start to our island day. We headed to the sparsely populated north of Saaremaa.π Two out of three top attractions on the island - advertised on 'MΓΌli-Bitsch'n'π - can be found there.
Stop 1 at the Panga Cliff: Well, with a length of 3km and a height of about 21m, they are not the Irish Cliffs of Moher.π But: Panga has many advantages.π No tourist crowds, fairytale-like pines that even hug each otherπ, a path along the cliff without barriers. Be careful!π€ Conclusion: Points victory for Panga, very beautiful and peaceful.π₯π
Must-see number two, the windmills of Angla, offered not only visits to the mills, but also a variety of old vehicles and equipment. The animals wanted to drive with everything...πππ
Top destination number three, a meteorite crater, we left aside today. Instead, there were nice beaches along the way or along the gravel and forest road (dusty affair!π). Again: Peaceful, beautiful.π The fine sandy beach tempted me into the waves. The water was 'bacherl-warm' - and when it comes to that, I'm quite a wimp!π Estimated 22, if not even 24 degrees. OK, it was a very shallow sloping beach, so the sea was only knee-deep and therefore so warm.π
So thankfully I didn't need the 'rescue ring'...π
The church of Karja, plain on the outside and at first glance on the inside as well, offered interesting frescoes upon closer inspection.π
Well, and the end of the day? On the four kilometers from the supermarket to the hotel, a torrential rain came down. Within minutes, streets were flooded, shooting into gardens and driveways.π³ It was just possible to plow through the floods, but with a very uneasy feeling.π It wouldn't have taken much more and the cars would have been submerged.π± In the midst of the excitement, we also made a wrong turn at the intersections. After ignoring two one-way streets (everything was already messed up!π§), we reached the saving hotel parking lot, which is not low-lying and therefore provided a safe parking space.π However, there was no chance to get out, so we ended up eating the pizza from the supermarket in the car.π
In a break from the rain, we dashed into the hotel before the floodgates opened a second time.π§π§π§
Now peace has returned. Apart from the evening action, it was a quiet day as hoped for. Relaxation - short car distances, little hustle and bustle, few impressions to process, lots of nature.π
Tomorrow we're heading back to the mainland!
Oh yes, the car is now sparkling 'cleaned'!ππ§πΏπ«
