Good News in the Morning - my visa for Vietnam is here - hooray 👏
Since it was very windy again today, we decided to take the express bus back to Kaohsiung earlier - our last city in Taiwan and at the same time Caro's university city, where she has been living since early November.
We met Caro in her apartment and took a walk along the river - with a stop for our first cocktails in Taiwan as a sundowner!
Caro went to her university farewell event and we went back to the hotel.
Today we had a James Bond-style bus experience 😎
We waited for the express bus at the bus stop in Kenting. The bus arrived on time, but when we were about to board, we realized that it was the wrong bus. The correct bus was behind it, but it drove away because no one was at the bus stop anymore. I frantically motioned to our bus driver that we wanted to ride with the passing bus. The bus driver asked something in Chinese and gestured for us to board. Since the next bus was supposed to come in 1 hour, we simply got on, even though we had no idea what was meant. The direction was correct, there were no people on the bus - only Uwe, me, and the bus driver 🙈. We watched the bus in front of us and the bus we were on very closely. After about 10 stations (where the bus never stopped and therefore no one got on!), the correct bus stopped at a bus terminal in the next larger city, and thankfully our bus driver stopped there too, so we quickly got off with our bags and got on the right express bus 😅.
But the Taiwanese people are all very friendly and helpful. Even if they don't speak English very well, they try to help!
Not everywhere is translated into English at the same time. That's when it gets really difficult.
Both components and then you're lost 🙈
The younger generation speaks English much better, so it's easier then.
