Today we leave the South Island towards the North Island. We have been following the news here for days to see the extent of Cyclone Gabrielle on the North Island. We don't know exactly what to expect. The B&B owner of our room, booked in Pahia, in the north of Auckland, has written to us that we can come with peace of mind. No major damage or outages. The middle east coast was hardest hit and cannot be reached.
In Auckland, everything seems to be back to normal.
From the airplane, some pictures of the mountains, glaciers, and Farewell Spit, a peninsula located in the far north of the South Island.
The North Island was shrouded in clouds, so I didn't take any pictures.
In Auckland, we try to get to our B&B by bus, Friday afternoon, if the traffic light isn't red, then someone must be getting on or off. 🙄😬🤯 Exhausting!
