Our second stop in Thailand is on Ko Phangan. The island is located in the Gulf of Thailand and is known for its Full Moon Party. This takes place once a month. Conveniently, we arrived on the exact day the Full Moon Party was happening. It's as if fate wanted it that way. Checked into our wonderful accommodation, we had a delightful lunch right on the beach. A delicious Pad Thai for me and fried rice with vegetables for David. I also had the best Lime/Mint Shake of my life. You can't imagine how fresh it tasted. Thai cuisine is truly wonderful. But let me tell you one thing. Spicy is really spicy here! For our standards, less than 'a little spicy' is more than enough. 😄 But let's stop talking about food. But the fried rice with pineapple, served in a half pineapple, was amazing! ... Okay, that's enough for now, but I had to mention that. As you can see, my stomach is doing great again. Hopefully it stays that way. So, we really lacked nothing at our accommodation. Nice hosts, everything was spotlessly clean, there was even a hammock at the bungalow, a big plus for sustainability, and 3 cats that made our stay even more enjoyable. On the first evening, we went to the famous Full Moon Party. Here, people party until sunrise. And all of this right on the beach. Wow, it was crazy! There were many bars with loud music, fire shows performed on the beach, and lots of food. People from all over the world celebrate the night together. It was really cool to have experienced that. Although we didn't stay until sunrise, we were there for a few hours. The music didn't really suit my taste, but David liked it more. Our second day on the island was completely relaxed. We strolled through some markets, chilled on the beach, and treated ourselves to fresh mango juice at the hotel's restaurant. By the way, you can get freshly cut mango everywhere here, and let me tell you, people, that's how a mango should always taste. A dream! So far, we've treated ourselves to a mango every day. You can get them at every market for a small price. I don't think you can ever get enough of them! By the way, there are also tons of jewelry, clothes, and some nice souvenirs here. With a little bargaining, you can get them for a small price too. Bargaining is the name of the game here. Actually, I don't really like doing that. But I have to say, it works perfectly fine here. We also decided to rent a scooter on Ko Phangan. This way, we could explore the island on our own and came across a beautiful viewpoint and the most beautiful beach on the island. After a short hike, you really look forward to a refreshing swim in the sea. Because here, too, it has been over 30 degrees Celsius every day and the humidity is high. The sea breeze makes it a lot more pleasant though. So where were we? Oh right, cooling off. The sea isn't far away anymore, almost there. Shirt soaked with sweat, legs tired after a short time. Almost a bit disappointing that the sea here doesn't really serve as a cooling off, but rather resembles a bathtub. Yes, really. There is hardly any current here and the water is just extremely warm! Well, I'm not complaining. I still think it's great somehow. So, you definitely don't have to stop here when you reach the belly limit. Do you know what I mean? 😄 No, it's like paradise... In the 'bathtub paradise'. The sea invites you to linger longer. You can walk really far, it doesn't get too cold, and you can see the fish swimming because the water is so clear. After cooling off, we sat down at a restaurant right on the beach. By the way, you can buy and consume cannabis everywhere here in Thailand. It's a true paradise for 'stoners'. It's almost a shame that we don't smoke. After 3 nights, our time here also comes to an end. On the way to the ferry, by the way, we had a really hot taxi, a man simply drove by on a scooter with a monkey. How funny, right? You only see something like that in Asia. I can understand why many people like Asia. There is simply such lightness here. Our Thailand journey continues on the island of Ko Samui. Here, we will really enjoy ourselves for the last 7 days.
