In Germany, many people asked me why I wanted to travel to South Africa. The most common answer was that I wanted to go on a safari to see the animals in their natural habitat, not just in a zoo. My expectations were definitely exceeded in the last two days. Especially our own tour in Kruger National Park was one of the most impressive experiences I have ever had.
I particularly liked the incredibly caring nature and unity of the elephants. For example, when they crossed a road, they waited for each other and crossed together. This happened when our car was surrounded by a herd of elephants (about 15) and we just had to turn off the engine, sit and marvel. It was incredible.
The few watering holes where a variety of different animals gathered to enjoy a cool down were also impressive.
We were also able to observe lionesses with their cubs in tow. I guess we were pretty lucky 😊 We preferred to enjoy the moment rather than take photos 😉 Otherwise, we were always delighted to see herds of zebras, antelopes, and monkeys.
