As the first tip for a visit to London, I would like to recommend the Sky Garden to you.
When you look it up on Google, it is referred to as a 'scenic place'! That's interesting because the Sky Garden is located at the top of a skyscraper on the 34th to 37th floors. There is no landscape up here, but as the name suggests, there is a garden. So you can enjoy a cocktail under palm trees and the fantastic view over the Thames and London in any weather.
By the way, the building itself is simply called '20 Fenchurch Street', named after the address. But due to the distinctive shape of the skyscraper, it has received the nickname 'The Walkie-Talkie'.
By the way, the fun is free if you don't consume anything up here.
However, there are a few hooks and eyes: you have to register in advance for the visit. The calendar on the website opens a few weeks in advance. Spontaneous visitors can be lucky, but it may not work out.
We even registered for two days, once on Wednesday morning and once on Saturday evening. Despite having printed tickets, we couldn't be found on our first visit, but we were able to register again on site and then go up.
The second visit was a little disaster for everyone there: There was a note stuck to the entrance door saying '... this weekend ... will be closed ... for our annual power shutdown'.
This annoyed us especially because if something like this happens every year, you know it in advance and can inform the registered visitors accordingly or simply not open the calendar for that period.
Well, the Sky Garden is still our top tip for visitors to London.
