Arriving in Tbilisi

Tshaj tawm: 13.09.2019

The first day in Tbilisi was gray and rainy. I explored my neighborhood, got to know the metro system, and since I live right next to the bath district, I also took a look at it. They are sulfur baths, mostly underground. The humps are the roofs of the baths. I immediately booked a bath for Wednesday evening.

But more dramatic than the first day was the first night! My apartment is right behind the mosque, and there were prayers with acclamations of the believers for hours, the speakers turned up high into the alley because not all believers had space in the mosque. Until 2 a.m. everything had escalated into a deafening spectacle, and I wondered why the neighbors just accepted it like that. My earplugs were like a breeze in the wind... there was no talk of sleep. Everything fell silent around 3 a.m., and I could finally sleep. Unfortunately, only briefly, because it started again early in the morning, and I seriously wondered if Georgia was really a good travel destination???
