For today, the focus was on the journey to our next accommodation in Hermanus. However, since the weather was already at its best in the morning, we decided without much thought to first make our way to the cable car of Table Mountain. Approximately one million other people had the same plan. Accordingly, the queue at the cable car was quite long (about 250m according to Hermann's estimates). The queue differentiated between those who had already purchased a ticket online and those who had not. We belonged to the latter. However, this was quickly about to change, fortunately. While we were already standing in the queue for online buyers, we quickly ordered the tickets on the web and paid by credit card. This extremely clever move saved us at least 2 hours of waiting time, so that we only had to wait for 1.25 hours. In hindsight, I would say that even waiting for 3-4 hours would have been worth it, but I'm glad we were spared that. The cable car is unique in that it has a platform that rotates during the ride. Much to the delight of our Indian "friends". Hermann and I have decided never to travel to India... 😐
After enjoying the truly magnificent views from Table Mountain (see photos), we quickly made our way to Hermanus to check into our new accommodation. It is located right next to our landlord's accommodation, who has three daughters. When we first saw the fireplace in the garden of the apartment, it was clear: "We're having a grill tonight. With this weather..." We hope the weather will be just as beautiful tomorrow, as we have a hike of about 12 km along the Cliff Paths ahead of us. But the weather forecast looks good. The small and very cozy fishing town of Hermanus is known for being able to spot whales from about 50 m away from the shore between September and October. Keep your fingers crossed that this is exactly what happens during our hike tomorrow. Today, during our walk along the sea, we could not spot any whales. But as they say, hope dies last. 😄
PS: Take a look at the cool soap we bought for our camper while strolling through Hermanus 😁
