Limfjord

Tshaj tawm: 12.07.2023

So far we have managed quite well to get through the summer heat, but for this day, almost 30 degrees were also predicted. We had breakfast in Louise's shade, as there was hardly any wind for the first time in Denmark. According to the weather forecast, it should be the last dry day, and since I hadn't been on a bike in Denmark yet, I continued pedaling.

Already on the first kilometer, I had to think of my "completely flat" report the day before, no way... It was never just flat, it was always up and down, a bit like riding a roller coaster. The "hardly any wind" from breakfast was probably just an illusion, a stiff breeze hit me. Especially bitter on a ride in only one direction, no tailwind.

The bike network here is fantastic, perfectly signposted, mostly without traffic, and often on the familiar Marguerite Route. Green meadows, fields of corn and maize, forests, and occasionally fragrant chamomile meadows line the path. Every now and then, there are hills with a view of the surrounding countryside. Very beautiful, but far less diverse than in Norway.

In Skive, Louise was waiting at the beach, perfect, first off to the cool waters of the 180 km long Limfjord, which divides North Jutland. We abandoned the original plan to continue to Aarhus, as the city of Nykobing on Mors that I already visited by bike on Sunday was deserted. Instead, we opted for a bit more nature. After a short search, we found a sleeping spot in the middle of cow meadows right by the fjord, perfect.

The sky gradually darkened, and shortly after dinner, the rain started, now the bad weather front caught up with us. I used to always think sleeping in the rain in the tent was nice, the sound of raindrops on Louise's roof puts me to sleep perfectly.
