For the next weekend, we rented a car as it is not so easy to reach everything by bus, especially the natural attractions.
After about 2 hours drive, we arrived at the Catlins, Nugget Point Lighthouse, where there is a parking lot, from which you walk about 30 minutes to the Nugget Point Lighthouse.
On this day, the weather was perfect and we had the best view of Nugget Point and the wide sea.
There were not many tourists around, which surprised us a bit, but it was better for us as we could take photos without many people in the background.
From Nugget Point, we continued to Purakanui Falls, which you can reach on foot in about 10 minutes from the parking lot.
From there, we drove to Kaka Point and used the time before going home to take photos at the beach.
The next morning, we drove to Doctors Point, a sandy beach with many rock caves.
Even though it doesn't sound that spectacular, it is definitely worth seeing.
Then we drove to the famous Moeraki Boulders. Unfortunately, the weather was not so good and we did not like the beach that much. In the end, they are just a few stones on the beach and most of them cannot be reached without going into the water during high tide. It was nice to see, but I don't think it's worth making a special trip for.
