After a month on the east side of Thailand, it was finally time to go to the west side of this beautiful country. The journey there was exciting and required a bit of trust that everything would work out. The night boat brought me, Sarah (my new travel companion), and a bunch of other people to the mainland. We were rudely awakened and sent out into the rain to get our luggage! After that, we had to wait for hours for the right bus to take us to the other side to Krabi/Ao Nang. In the end, we only needed a longtail boat to reach our first destination on this coast, Railay Beach.
Railay is unlike anything I've seen in Thailand before. The coast and beaches are rocky, and the peninsula is completely isolated from the outside world. Additionally, the whole place is very touristy, and when you walk through the streets, you sometimes feel like you're in Jamaica.
All in all, it was an exciting experience. Sarah and I are both glad that we can continue our journey after two nights.
