From Sydney, we took a two-hour train ride to Katoomba, a town in the middle of the Blue Mountains. From our very cozy hostel, which had the charm of a bed and breakfast, we went on our first hike. On the Prince Henry Walk, we walked for 3.5 hours from the Leura Cascades to the famous Three Sisters. On the less crowded trail, there were many breathtaking lookouts into the valley. There was more activity at the Three Sisters, as it is a popular destination for Asian tourists.
On the second day, we joined three girls from the hostel and took a bus to the neighboring town of Blackheath to do the 'Grand Canyon Walk'. We first descended deep into the canyon, along the creek where we also saw wild lobsters, and then climbed many stairs back up to Evans Lookout. After a short break, we walked on the Cliff Top Walk, passing the Govetts Leap waterfall, and finally reached the Heritage Centre, where we took the bus back to Katoomba.
