Last night it cooled down to 12 degrees, and Birgit is feeling cold in bed during the early morning hours. However, the rising sun quickly warms us up after we get out of bed.
This region of the Vikos-Aoos National Park is called Zagori, just like its inhabitants. Over the past few centuries, the people of Zagori have settled in this inaccessible area and have connected their villages with cobblestone paths, stairs, and stone bridges. The Vradeto Steps were already seen in yesterday's post.
Today, we've planned a circular hike to some of their bridges. They are said to be architectural masterpieces. We can't judge that, but they are very beautiful to look at and set in a magnificent natural landscape. The extremely rocky paths pose a challenge for us with our barefoot shoes. In the end, we are also glad to be back at Nuggy, although every step was worth it!
In the late afternoon, we will continue on to Arta where we want to visit the weekly market tomorrow.
