Tag 4 - Good bye Singapore

Tshaj tawm: 14.09.2023

Addendum to day 3 - our dinner with Volker's ex-colleague Avtar was interesting for us, among other things, because we got an honest look from outside at Avtar's visit to Germany, which was 10 years ago.

Avtar was amazed at how dirty Germany was and obviously still is. The fact that Germany has “run away” and is now behind in many respects is obviously not lost on other countries.

Part of the traffic light can't do anything about it this time - this is the work of the GroKo - thank you for that.

As for “dirty” Germany, which organizes “dirty-away” events that didn’t have to exist in our childhood because our parents simply raised us properly in this regard and many of us couldn’t, or can’t, pass that on we only learn from Singapore. It wasn't always clean there either, but now they've managed to teach mindfulness and they're doing very, very well with it.

Some people may find it strange that cameras are installed everywhere here, but for us it was one of the reasons that you could move around the city completely freely - even at night - and had nothing to fear.

Today - our last day in Singapore - we went to the Supertree Oberservatory and the Skyway and enjoyed the views from there.

We saved ourselves the trip to the observation deck of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

Finally, we followed Avtar's tip and took a look at Little India. It's like a bazaar, but everything is very friendly and pleasant. Nobody forces you to constantly look at anything - as is the case in other bazaars - and you can browse through the goods completely unmolested.

Changi Airport is an experience in itself. Very, very spacious - easily worth 10,000 steps - and the dazzling waterfall, which was built here in an artificial, green environment, almost made us miss the flight.

Lax security checks as we entered the building deceived us from the fact that there would be a second, sensible security check. This took place immediately upon boarding, so that we just managed to catch our flight. Nobody pointed this out to us and it was a questionable and completely surprising process for us. If we had dawdled around a little longer, the plane would have been gone...
