Cala Mesquida

Tshaj tawm: 11.07.2022

We left early to enjoy the beach in peace. We were very lucky because the beach was almost empty for two hours.

Surrounded by gently sloping hills, this picturesque bay is located in the middle of a nature reserve, bordered by a dune landscape in the background. The 300m long beach consists of fine white sand and the sea shimmers turquoise, bottle green or deep blue depending on the time of day.

After the first swim in the sea - you feel like a fish in the water here - we set off to explore. Past the exclusive hotels (there is even a hotel specifically for children) and restaurants, we head towards the mountains. The view is breathtaking. Upon reaching the plateau, we see clothing and a handbag several meters below among stones and rocks. No one could possibly be swimming here - it's too steep and rocky. After several calls, no one responds. We notify the beach patrol, but they don't take any action.

Now it's time for a refreshing swim and we jump into the cold water with our air mattresses - if you can call it cold with a water temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. The goal is a buoy - far out - which we want to use to hold on to. But we don't reach our goal, because a sudden scream from Lisa startles me - a jellyfish has touched her leg.

First, we have to get Lisa back to the shore. Fortunately, we have the air mattresses with us, which are well suited for holding on to Lisa. When we arrive at the sun lounger, we rinse her leg with drinking water and apply cold packs. Then we Google what to do in such cases. Vinegar compresses are helpful - but where do we get vinegar at the beach? We contact the lifeguard again, who rinses the affected areas with seawater and advises us not to go in the sun for 30 minutes. So we make ourselves comfortable on the sun loungers, and after about 3 hours, Lisa is back to her old self again, and we spend another wonderful day on the beach and in the water, just being careful with the jellyfish.
