We have pretty much reached the end of our journey. Due to weather conditions, we spontaneously changed our plans and headed north, where the beautiful warm weather tempted us. We relaxed and ended our journey in the wonderful small holiday town of Paihia. Our hostel provided us with perfect conditions, with its loft character and panoramic view of the Bay of Islands. There wasn't much beach time, as the sandflies seemed to love Kevin very much and we didn't want to leave him alone at the beach. However, we met many great and interesting people with whom we spent our time, exchanged experiences, and organized lovely cooking and breakfast brunches (homemade pizza and bread). Additionally, Paihia tempted us with incredibly delicious and the best ice cream flavors in all of New Zealand! From Macadamia-Hazelnut, Triple-Chocolate-Brownie, Fejoia-Gelato, Turkish-Delight, Sniffters, Spicey-Apple, Affogato, and Berrycurrent-Blackberry, there is pretty much everything to indulge your taste buds. We explored the wonderful beaches and coast around Paihia with a coastal walk, and on a trip to Russell, we discovered the oldest church in New Zealand (yes, it was even over 100 years old at some point) as well as a notorious old pirate business. As we really liked Russell as a place to relax, we decided to come back to New Zealand again and buy a vacation home (for this, we would like to thank Julia once again for her generous donation - end of joke). Well-rested and with a smile on our faces, we have now reached the final stretch of our journey.
