Cusco πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ͺπŸŒ§οΈπŸŒ„πŸšŒ

Tshaj tawm: 03.10.2019

After 22 hours on the bus, we finally arrived in Cusco and went straight to the hostel. Here, because it was our first time there, we got to spin a wheel and then you get a prize. Laura won an appetizer at a Peruvian restaurant and I won a sticker... A STICKER! I was a bit disappointed because I also wanted something to eat :D

Well, then we checked into our room, relaxed a bit, and then went into the city in search of the restaurant on Laura's voucher to have some food. On the way, we had a cappuccino at Starbucks and then found the restaurant :) The free appetizer was really great, as we had 4 different types of potatoes and dips. After that, I had a kind of alpaca stew. SUPER DELICIOUS! Yes, I ate alpaca and it was awesome :D The rest of the day, we relaxed and were glad that after three nights in a tent and two nights on the bus, we finally had a comfortable bed :)

The next day, we did a Free Walking Tour of Cusco, which was not that great because the guide was more focused on having individual conversations than telling things. After that, we booked a quad tour for the day at the hostel, which luckily wouldn't start until 1pm. That was our chance to participate in the beer pong tournament! It started around 7/8pm and our first opponents were a few villagers from near Munich. We were in good spirits, but Konrad and Andy were also good and so we got knocked out after the first round :( oh well, we still supported them and they actually brought home the victory! Great job, guys! Meanwhile, Laura and I had various Cuba Libres during happy hour and then fell dead into bed :D

In the morning, we had a super delicious breakfast as always with fresh avocado and finally NOT sweet buns! Oh, how I missed that :D After that, we went back to bed until we started the quad tour at 1pm. We had to drive with a minibus for an hour, then we got instructions and started directly :) we were going really fast, which was pretty cool, and took a short break at two lakes. Our ponchos were blowing in the wind and it got pretty cold after a while. Then we returned to Cusco and relaxed for the rest of the evening :)

The next day, the day finally came and we met Kiki here in Cusco! Just like that on the other side of the world πŸ™ˆ We chatted for two hours at first and then went together to a market here and had a delicious juice and had lunch :) In the evening, we had the pre-briefing for our 5-day trek to Machu Picchu on the plan, where we met our companions Tim and Asa and our guide Anderson. Unfortunately, Kiki couldn't do the trek with us as she got sick before, but she would join us once we are in Aguas Calientes and go to Machu Picchu there. Back in the hostel in the evening, the original plan was to go to bed early as we have to wake up at 4am. But since plans can change, we just played beer pong and drank until 1am :)))))))) biggest mistake ever, I will never do that again before a tour :D!!!

I will tell you about how the Salkantay Trek was and what happened next in Cusco in the next entry :)

See you soon

Chrissie :)
