After a leisurely sleep and a hearty breakfast, we went to the market square in Helsinki, which is also the harbor. We then took a small boat trip to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Suomenlinna, a fortress on several islands off Helsinki with a rich history. This fortress was originally built by Sweden, then conquered by Russia and finally used by the Finnish military until 1973. The view from the boat or from the fortress over the entire harbor and the city is truly fantastic.
