Maasai Mara

Tshaj tawm: 21.03.2018

Last weekend we went to Maasai Mara, the northern part of the much larger Tanzanian Serengeti. The ride there with the Matatu was already a little adventure in itself. Matatus are small buses that have been pimped with up to 15 seats. Often overloaded, sometimes with standing guests, it is the main means of public transportation in Kenya. There are no fixed schedules. With the Matatu I caught, we waited in the morning until all the seats were occupied. Typically German, I was the first guest and had to wait for departure for over an hour. Later, when changing buses, the whole thing repeated itself, which can extend a 5-6 hour drive to 8 hours.

Finally arrived at the accommodation with the other volunteers, we soon went to bed because the safari started early in the morning.

Regarding the safari itself, I can only say that Maasai Mara is indescribable and everyone should experience this wonder of nature for themselves. I hope the pictures can give you a little impression. The highlight of the day was definitely the scene where lionesses chased and then ate a hyena together. Since I haven't received these pictures yet, I can only add them later.

Still, enjoy all the others, best regards,

Andi

P.S.: Next weekend we will go on a safari in Hell's Gate National Park with mountain bikes.
