Scotland surprises us with good weather and we take advantage of it, put on our hiking shoes, fill our picnic backpack with food, and set off. We have to cross a river, then it goes uphill pretty steeply. We pass through several sheep gates and make good progress. The path gets steeper and rockier, Jonathan can only walk hand in hand now, many people pass us, they already started early in the morning and not like us, only at 12 o'clock, but we don't let ourselves be discouraged and continue, at least until it starts raining. Con and I don't have rain jackets, the path becomes more difficult and for Jonathan it is clearly too strenuous. We discuss and decide that only Con and I will continue and the rest will turn back. The rain subsides again and the sun comes out. We don't want to reach the summit, but halfway there is a lake, that should be our goal, at least that's what we want to achieve. So we continue, step by step uphill, it feels like climbing high stairs. We take a break, eat something, catch our breath again, at least I do, and enjoy the view. After that, it gets easier, it's easier to hike when you're refreshed. Then finally after about 2 hours we reach the goal, the lake is in sight, we made it, it's beautiful up here and the view is amazing. For a moment, I think about continuing, it would probably take another 2 hours, for Constantin it would probably be no problem, he wasn't even out of breath, but I'm inexperienced and climbing the highest mountain in Great Britain on a whim seems too daring to me. Both of us have good shoes, but we're not well equipped for rain, so I quickly make the decision in my head and we start our way back. It's a great feeling when you're going back, going downhill is great, at least initially, later I feel my right knee and now I'm really glad that I decided not to continue. We come back safely and enjoy the view of the many hikers on the mountain from the campsite. It was beautiful!
