Our plan to make a detour to New York/Manhattan was initially on shaky ground or on not really rolling tires ...
Our meticulous planning said that we had to be in the parking garage at 181st Street at 10 a.m. so that we could still catch a glimpse of the World Trade Center, which was three-quarters of an hour subway ride away.
But the traffic on the connecting road from New Haven to New York was so heavy that it didn't look good at first ...
But in the end, we parked the car in the parking garage at 10:05 and were near the World Trade Center station just before eleven. The search for the exit to the street was as always a bit complicated, but the Oculus compensates and makes the eyes overflow again.
But - if we're honest - our intention was not really the World Trade Center, but rather the building right next to it. The Century21. A huge department store for clothes. Here you usually get absolute bargains.
Knowing the interior of the Century21, we walked there purposefully. We gave ourselves 60 minutes, then we had to take the subway back ... After all, our flight from Newark was at 4:35 p.m. ... and the car still had to be returned and we know the check-in procedure only too well ...
Not without taking some photos of the WTC and with three shirt bargains and three t-shirts for Rolf, we ended up back in the subway. We left the parking garage on time at 1 p.m. and then it took another 45 minutes to get to the airport.
Car returned, luggage checked in and then our task was done.
One last post for all those who have faithfully read along. Thanks for that. Maybe/Certainly I have sometimes rambled on a bit long about our daily experiences, but I just can't do it briefly ... :)
As compensation - for those who want to see it that way - a few photos of our minute trip to New York ...
And again it should be noted: Even though the start of the trip didn't go quite as smoothly and as planned, this vacation was again simply fantastic. We have seen very diverse places and things that we will surely not forget so quickly and that make our vacations always so special ...
