11.11. Aquatic Fun at the Mae Sa waterfalls

प्रकाशित: 17.11.2017

Finally!!!

Today, the first waterfalls are on the agenda!

It's about time, as these natural phenomena are a landmark of Thailand and can often be found in various national parks.

One particularly popular and well-known example is the Mae Sa waterfalls, which belong to the Doi Suthep National Park and are just 30 minutes away from our hotel.

Since the scooter has proven itself for two consecutive days, I choose it again as the means of transportation today.

After a usual generous breakfast, I plan the route and after 15 minutes, armed with drinks, sunscreen, and swimming gear, we set off on the 50cc infernal machine.

I bypass the highway, so it takes us an extra 15 minutes, but we have a very pleasant ride (even without a police check ^^). We arrive around 12:00 pm.

After paying an entrance fee of 100 Baht each, we start the 1.8 km ascent.

The path is well paved and the individual waterfalls make hiking a rewarding Tour-de-Mae experience with stages.

Sweating because of the heat, we arrive at Stage 9. The view is extraordinary. The water flows fast but not deep, which makes progress easier.

Happily, I enjoy the coolness and then climb up the waterfall to savor the moment.

As it starts to get crowded, we leave the waterfall around 3:00 pm, thus avoiding the rush hour.

I drop off Grandma at the hotel, return the scooter, and take a walk through the city before heading back to the hotel.

Today was my last day here.

I really enjoyed the city and the nature.

Maybe one day I will come back to the city of elephants, which is rightly called the "jewel of the North."
