We are finally going to the beach! Our hostel is only about 200 meters and a main road away from the beach. After a short walk, we reach the beach quickly. The sandy beach on the Gulf of Thailand is very fine and the water is pleasantly warm. The beach is about 8 km long and is therefore perfect for long walks. We take such a walk, past palm trees, kite surfers, people with horses, and many crabs and shells.
Hua Hin is quite touristy, which can also be seen in the relatively large hotels on the beach. The difference in climate compared to Bangkok is now noticeable: in Hua Hin, the sun is less dampened by the smog and there is a pleasant breeze.
Afterwards, we make a short stop at Tesco Lotus and get a refreshing watermelon. To burn off the watermelon, we go back to the sea for a swim.
For dinner, we visit the local Indian restaurant with the best Google reviews. Here we get an excellent dinner of Chicken Masala (medium spicy), Chicken Madras (mild spicy), naan, dips, and drinks for about 500 ฿ (approx. €15). Originally, we ordered spicy instead of medium spicy, but obviously the service staff adjusted it. We read during the trip preparation: when Thais say spicy, they mean spicy. And it's true. The medium spicy is already at the limit of edible and gets the circulation going. Nevertheless, it is delicious.
On the way home, we take a short detour to the beach, where we arrive just in time for our fireworks. Then it's just home because we start early tomorrow.
