-Chapter 14- Trip to Kaiate Falls

We spent the night from Tuesday to Wednesday in Papamoa Beach. When we got ready in the morning, I had a missed call from Powen. Keep in mind that the last time we talked to him was on Monday when he said work would probably start on Thursday. I called him back, and once again, I was faced with the most difficult English listening task. I could make out the following phrases: "Work has already started", "It's up to you", "Wait a moment", "Work starts tomorrow at eight", "It's up to you", and "Work has already started". That's exactly what he would say every time I asked, "So should we come to the farm now?", "So should we work today?", "Okay, so should we not come to work anymore?". That was really fun. In the end, we decided on "Work starts at 8 tomorrow" and traveled to the Kaiate Falls, two small waterfalls near Te Puke that were really beautiful.

Because the road on the way there was pretty bad, we decided to take the Te Puke Quarry Road on the way back. After about 10 meters, a sign showed us that we were on a "Gravel Road". The bad roads with a risk of skidding that we had been warned about. However, turning around was out of the question on the narrow, hilly road. So we continued straight ahead, or rather, we simply followed the gravel road that ran single-lane and very curvy along the slope. By the way, I only had the courage to drive the car once we had earned the money for it, which was at the beginning of November. That means Celina had to navigate this route alone, without us plunging off the cliff. We hoped it would be over quickly, but we had to follow the road for about 15 minutes. Fortunately, we didn't encounter any oncoming traffic until we arrived in Te Puke...
