To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the name «Vaison-la-Romaine», numerous Romans (of Italian and French descent) will be gathering on the weekend of May 11th and 12th for a parade through the town and for a meeting and various demonstrations at the excavation sites. The excavations from Roman times are on the right bank of the Ouvèze. Vaison la Romaine is generally considered the French Pompeii, and the museum is well worth a visit.

Particularly impressive at the Roman spectacle: the figure of Emperor Hadrian. And yes – the Romans are crazy...
