Peru - Day 10 - Colca Canyon Trek Part 2

To avoid hiking in the scorching sun, we started early in the morning, just before 5 am. After 2 hours and 29 minutes (Pascal) and 3 hours and 14 minutes (Jan), we hiked over 1000 meters uphill, sometimes even climbing, and reached the top. It was a liberating feeling after both of us almost passed out during the hike. But it was definitely worth it!

After a short break, we continued to hike to have breakfast, and finally had something to eat by 8:30 am.

After that, we continued driving and made a brief stop at a small stand with alpacas, where we tried cactus and drank cactus juice (Colca).

Then we took the bus up to 4910 meters. The view wasn't the best, but it started snowing a little bit (felt like home during this season).

On the way back to Arequipa, we saw a herd of alpacas and llamas, and even the rare Pecuna animals.

When we arrived in Arequipa, we ended the evening at a rooftop bar with a stunning view with the other two Germans, Alexander and Birgit.

Of course, we had to go to bed early again because we had to continue at 5 am the next day...
