Wieliczka
If you take the line bus 304 on Mondays..
..Krakowians go to work, and tourists go out of town to the Wieliczka Salt Mine:
Wieliczka is home to one of the oldest salt mines in the world - one of Poland's greatest attractions. For 500 years, 'tourists' have been visiting this place, including Copernicus, Goethe, Chopin, Friedrich the Great,... but now also over 1 million regular visitors annually!
..it must be here, well then
Szczęść Boże! - Good luck!
You can only go down with a tour guide - today in German. Without it, you wouldn't stand a chance in the 200 km long labyrinth on 9 levels anyway. We are assured that tourists who get lost are searched for only every two weeks...
However, you are completely protected down there. You are surrounded by Saints - full coverage!
Here is the legend of St. Kinga, staged. Everything is salt!
The workers themselves have built underground chapels due to their extremely dangerous work, as well as countless figures and reliefs:
But it wasn't just praying here, it was mainly hard work:
The Chapel of St. Kinga
But how can one create such a massive salt chapel at a depth of over 100 meters..
..I completely lack the imagination for that.
As I said, everything is salt, even the floor..
..and -as it had to happen- someone wonders whether it is mopped...
By the way, my big toe doesn't hurt anymore - since a few minutes ago - Kinga?
