After arriving safe and sound in Uyuni, we decided to skip the ten-hour bus ride to La Paz and instead take a one-hour flight. La Paz is one of the highest cities in the world, at an altitude of 3,800 meters. The city is incredibly impressive and fascinating as it is nestled in the mountains, with many houses looking like they are simply attached to the mountain. Next to our hotel, there was a cozy little alley with many small restaurants that we tried one by one over the next few days.

The public transportation network is actually quite well-developed but quite confusing, so we decided to take a ride on a typical tourist hop-on-hop-off bus. We woke up early as we were told at the bus stop that the bus was broken. Great. I was looking forward to just sitting and still seeing everything important. We wandered through the streets, visited a couple of churches, and eventually came to a local bus stop. Just like the Roosmänner boys, Jonas and Josef got on the next bus and I had no choice but to jump on after them. Incredible but true, the bus took exactly the same route that our €30 more expensive hop-on-hop-off bus would have taken ^^ Even the bus driver had of course immediately identified us as tourists and kicked us out at a stop because he thought we wanted to go to the nearby rock park. But it was actually quite nice :) We took the same bus line back and got off at a cable car station. A new (Swiss) cable car network was built over the entire La Paz, allowing you to easily ride above the annoying traffic chaos. We basically took a city tour from above. Overall, La Paz is an incredibly impressive city with its own charm, but I still have a lot of respect for it.
