It's 7:30 AM. Sabrina is still sleeping. I struggle out of all sleeping bags and blankets and crawl out of the tent. Gray smoke rises from the cold ashes of our campfire. I disappear into the forest with my camera. My morning walk has become a kind of ritual on this road trip. I wander through the silence of the wilderness as if time stands still. In this moment, it's just me, the forest, my camera, and a cigarette. The first rays of sunlight stand like pillars in the room. After an indefinite time, I return to Sabrina. She is already awake and packing up. We have spent the last three nights in this forest and the last two days in the 'Yosemite National Park'. The park is huge and nature is overwhelming. From its white mountain peaks, gray cliffs, bubbling waterfalls, and crystal clear lakes to its gigantic sequoia trees. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here. There is so much to explore, numerous hiking trails, viewpoints, and every sight looks like a painting by Bob Ross. Still slightly intoxicated by the flora and fauna, we are heading back to civilization today. Our destination today is the city of fog: 'San Francisco'. Or rather 'Oakland', because accommodations are much cheaper here. After a few hours of driving, we finally arrive at our temporary home. We are warmly welcomed by an incredibly nice lady in her golden 50s and immediately feel comfortable. We spend the rest of the evening in bed watching a movie after a pleasant warm shower. Tomorrow, we will explore the big city.
