Tag 11: From Vaalwater to the Transvaal Drakensberg

After breakfast, we leave the beloved farmhouse 'Oom Piet' and drive the gravel sand track to Vaalwater, then we head to the town of Hoetspruit, which is located about 450 km away at the foot of the Transvaal Drakensberg mountains.

Last breakfast in the lodge main building with a view of Welgevonden Park.

First, we drive to Vaalwater on the gravel sand track.

The journey takes us through the cities of Mokopane and Polokwane.

The route becomes picturesque behind Polokwane, where we continue towards Tzaneen through forests, mountainous landscapes, and banana and orange & lemon plantations.

On the way to Tzaneen, we stop at a small organic shop with a nice outdoor seating area. Here, BIO is written in capital letters, and there are not only many plants and flowers but also chickens.

We reach Maruleng / Hoedspruit around 4pm and check into our vacation home for today, the 'Maya Manor'.

The house is located in a private residential area with a gate and security guard.

We are thrilled with our little house!

While the kids chill in the house, we quickly go to the supermarket around the corner and buy something for dinner - and a chocolate cake, because tomorrow we have a birthday child
