Day 7 - Rock'n'Roll and Easy Going
So, what now? Both!😊 The hotel has the 'Rock' because it's called 'Comfort Hotel LT Rock ‘n’ Roll Hotel Vilnius'. 🎼🎸 And the city has the easy flair.🎈
The hotel is stylish and furnished with nice details for Baltic standards.😎😉
Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, seems to have a church on every corner.⛪🕌🕍 Plenty of pedestrian zones and nice street cafes create a relaxed atmosphere. This afternoon we explored the area around the university and the former ghetto. Tomorrow we'll visit the rest: the castle, the cathedral, etc. And we'll also make a 'border crossing' into the artist republic 'Uzupis'...🛃👨✈️🎨🎭
This morning we visited Trakai Island Castle, the symbol of Lithuania.🏰 Quite a few tourists, but it was still manageable.👍
By the way, everywhere, whether it's Latvia or Lithuania, it is customary in local establishments to pay in the following procedure: You ask for the bill. The waiter comes and brings a wooden box or folder with the bill. You put money or card inside. The waiter takes the box/folder and goes to the cash register. The waiter returns with the box/folder and the change or the card. What a running back and forth...🏃♂️🏃♀️🙈
In Vilnius - like everywhere else - the plaster is crumbling in many places in the side streets. What looks like nice green decoration on the facades are actually green safety nets to prevent debris from falling on pedestrians.🤕⚠️
