Yesterday we set off for Montenegro. Quite early in the morning.. because we don't want to arrive too late in Montenegro.. Mhm..
Another short stop in Cavtat. Our boat stopped here on the way to Dubrovnik yesterday, so we want to take a quick look too. It's very nice, a cute little harbor, nice little streets, nice cafe.. and apparently it's the place for luxury yachts that find Dubrovnik too expensive... Anyway, quite posh for our eyes ;)
So far so good. First, we wait a bit at the border.. well, that was expected, but everything went quite smoothly, even with getting extra insurance.. blablabla.. I was already excited about Montenegro, narrow roads, lots of traffic.. bad road conditions.. etc.
Hardly there, I already witnessed the first accident.. this can only go well. Then, we want to save time and arrive faster, so we take the ferry to the other side of the Bay of Kotor, and then turn left directly to our campsite.. Aha.. and this is a road?? Narrow, actually one-lane, mountains on the right, sea on the left.. and in between, there are houses, restaurants.. very idyllic.. if you weren't in a car here and there wasn't any oncoming traffic.. like buses for example! Oh my God! Barely on the road, the first Montenegrin drives backwards, very motivated to avoid a bus... and almost hits us hard.. aha.. now he noticed us too.. then continue squeezing through the road.. On the right would be our campsite.. mhm... 2 lonely caravans and a closed gate.. nothing else. I think it's closed! So standing still here without an entrance is stupid and looking on a one-lane road with oncoming traffic.. and it's also difficult to turn around.. because where is the next campsite? Of course, on the other side of the bay, where we wanted to take the ferry to save time.. great.. so we won a bay tour! ;) But from Kotor, the road gets wider anyway.. and then it went quickly, and the bay is beautiful! And then we found a cute little Montenegrin campsite.. where we are now in the orchard.. among olive, fig, and persimmon trees! Markus is getting overwhelmed with enthusiasm for all the fruit... and would like to pick everything immediately ;)
