Day 2 - warm

Hoʻopuka ʻia: 02.05.2019

After two smooth flights, including the realization that I still can't sleep sitting down, we arrived in Bangkok today.

Quickly exchanged the remaining euros for baht and took the Airport Rail to the city center.

- 'It's not that hot now.'

Yes, it is! A few hours later, we were reminded that there are few countries that have their highest temperature at 7:30 in the morning.

- 'We can walk the rest to the hostel'!

No, you can't! Just before collapsing, we took a TukTuk to the desired destination.

The super nice lady at the reception desk is very talkative, but doesn't want us to speak German in her presence. Okay, we can do that: 'the lobby is international'.

'You only have a room with a fan,' she tells us.

'Huh, sounds good,' we thought and then realized afterwards: fan = hairdryer = bad!

The room is Spartan, but we have our own bathroom and a window in case we want to let in some fresh air.

After a short nap, we take a walk around the area. Everywhere smells delicious from improvised food stalls, and the sellers are pleasantly unobtrusive and friendly. One nice cafe and restaurant follow another, and soon you're just strolling absent-mindedly.

Another break at the hostel, then a stroll down Khao San Road in the evening. It's worth it:

Now, at 8:00 PM local time, we fall into bed soaking wet and exhausted, only to wake up completely drenched at 6:00 AM tomorrow.
