Hello girls and boys
Time flies by. My first week in Peru is over. When I landed in Lima on Sunday morning, the first thing I did was go to my host family.
I had school every day this week and now I know the basics of Spanish. On my first day of school, I was a little nervous, but everyone welcomed me warmly and they were really nice.
I met many great people and went on some amazing trips.
I learned at school how to mix the typical Pisco Sour drink. The alcoholic drink can be made with many different flavors and it is very strong🙈.
Since Lima is right by the sea, I couldn't resist taking surfing lessons. I had to be ready at 5:50am so that I could go surfing before my lessons. The water is cold, but with a wetsuit and some movement, it's bearable🤭. It was awesome, I had great teachers and it was so much fun. At the end of the week, I even got to switch to a smaller board, which made it more challenging. It's much harder to maintain balance that way.
Every evening, I went out for Peruvian food with my surf instructor, who was a great tour guide. This allowed me to see Lima at night and try the typical dishes. The food in Peru is special, but super delicious. Lots of fresh seafood and especially corn and potatoes.
On my last night in Lima, we went to the famous City Center. We walked through the markets and I had to try lots of different street food. It was incredibly tasty and I was glad to have a local with me, otherwise I wouldn't have known where to go. There is one street food stall after another and people sell all sorts of things on the street. The center is very beautiful and has a Spanish touch.
Once I was taken through the entire center, we also went to the famous "parca del'agua". It is a huge park full of different fountains. Some of the fountains were decorated with lights and colors, and at 9 o'clock there was even a big water light show that depicted the history of Lima.
When I finally came home late in the evening, I had to pack because I will be flying to Cusco the next morning.
