Beautiful, white sandy beaches, crystal clear water and dreamy sunsets. That's Formentera summarized in one sentence.
The small island near Ibiza has become very popular in recent years. In contrast to the big party island, Formentera is much quieter. No big clubs and long nights. Instead, the chillout island offers beautiful sunsets that can be enjoyed with a Mojito on one of the numerous beaches.
The Piratabus is The Place to be for all sundowners. The small bar at the southern end of Platja de Migjorn has long achieved cult status for the best sunsets on Formentera.
We definitely recommend renting a car or scooter, which are available at almost every corner of the island. A trip to Es Pujols is also recommended. The small tourist town has a beautiful promenade and also the only nightclubs on the island.
Another excursion to the north of the island should not be missed: Numerous beaches like El Tiburon, Illetes and Llevant invite you to relax on the beach. But be careful - especially in high season, it's better not to go too late, as the parking spaces are usually occupied by then! (Before 10 am it was never a problem)
As already mentioned, a rental car or scooter and definitely a sun umbrella (many beaches don't have sunbeds/umbrellas)!
Arriving on Formentera via Ibiza by ferry may seem daunting to many - but then it's relaxed and the half-hour boat ride really doesn't hurt anyone!
Formentera is not called 'The Caribbean of Europe' for nothing. Actually, the perfect place for a beach vacation that is still reachable in a reasonable travel time.
