After the rain prevented our ascent to the viewpoint on Wednesday morning, we decided to get up early the next and final morning to try out our new hiking shoes.
So we got up at 4:30 am, hoping to see the sunrise on the mountain.
After some initial difficulties finding the overgrown path, we soon found ourselves on the 'hiking trail', which was mostly steep uphill. Past palm trees, insects, and roaring monkeys, we made our way up the exhausting path.
It was adventurous and we feared several times that we had lost our way. Luckily, a dog accompanied us, which decided to join us on the mountain from the beach. We were very fascinated that he showed us the way up the mountain all by himself and patiently waited for us.
Arriving at the top, the view rewarded us for the hardships.
On this day, we were actually supposed to continue to Koh Phangan. We had chosen a small bungalow village right by the sea. However, when we arrived, we were anything but thrilled. Luckily, we hadn't booked the room yet and tried our luck at the neighboring bungalow resort. They were quite surprised by our arrival with all our belongings and immediately demanded triple the price for a simple bungalow. Against this background and Nathi's upcoming birthday, we decided to take the ferry to Koh Samui on this day.
