We continue to the south via Midelt, the apple city, after a short stop at the market to do some shopping and have a meal at a nice restaurant - as the only guests... it's Ramadan, after all.
Before that, we take a short off-road trip to the lead mines of Aouli, located in the beautiful Moulouya Gorge.
The route (N13) to the south becomes more and more 'desert-like', and the green oases along it become even greener as it follows the Qued Ziz.
Before Er Rachidia, we stop for the night at Ali's, who is actually a biologist but now makes his living with a very well-kept hostel... he's very warm and friendly (without trying to sell anything).
In the evening, we enjoy delicious Tajine with homemade bread, spend a peaceful night in the camper, and have coffee and Berber omelette for breakfast the next morning.
Ali has really taken a liking to Mia and insists on giving her a typical blue Berber scarf, gives us tips for the rest of the journey, and provides bread and dates for the trip because it's not easy to find food on the road during Ramadan... he's an incredibly kind and pleasant person who has told us a lot of interesting things.
