Who am I and what am I doing here

Hoʻopuka ʻia: 29.01.2019

I have noticed that some people are following my path who don't really know me. That's why I'll introduce myself briefly.

My name is Philipp Meyer and I was born on December 13, 1991 in beautiful North Hesse, more precisely in Kassel. Jackpot! What can a person become more than a North Hessian?

Now I am 27 years old, live in Kiel, have been in a happy relationship with my girlfriend Lisa for almost 2.5 years, whom I already miss a lot, and work there as an educator in a youth welfare facility. Sometimes it's really tough and not an easy job. But it's what I always wanted to do and still want to do. I go to work happily every day because I enjoy it! Yes, I can say that it's not just a job but a profession for me!

Let's go back a few years...

Growing up in beautiful Niederzwehren, I was inclined to adventurous outings from childhood days. When I was 3 years old, I visited my father in the barracks and the whole neighborhood was searching for me. It was funny (for me)

When I was 5 or 6 years old, we moved to the suburb of Baunatal. There I could grow up protected in a good parental home.

I was always special and sought border experiences that made me more independent. When I was 6 years old, I took the tram alone to Kassel for the first time. My parents explained to me beforehand that I should only take the line 5. Since I didn't pay attention to the line number but only to the destination written on it, I got on line 2 instead of line 5 and then realized at some point that I was not in the right place. So I got off, looked for the nearest kiosk, and took 20 pennies (I always had them with me in case I needed to make a phone call) and asked if I could make a phone call. Papa (who works for the KVG) guided me to where I had to go. Somehow I always got through!

When I was 6, I also stood on the Nordtribüne (Northern Stand) for the first time in the beautiful Auestadion. KSV HESSEN KASSEL, my first love! God, how I love this football club! For several years, nothing worked out, on the contrary, insolvency, relegation, Hessenliga... But there, football is still football.

In the first years, I always went to KSV with my dad. He is there as a volunteer and I stood with him on the track and field and could experience the idols Bauer, Schönewolf, Freudenstein, Chalaskiewicz, César, and co up close. But that wasn't enough for me. Shortly afterwards, I stood with the other fans on the Nordtribüne and together we cheered on KSV!

At the age of 16, I joined my first fan club and contacts and relationships were formed that were unique and some of them still exist today. I felt comfortable in the Kassel fan scene. Everyone stands up for each other, something that is not so common today. I was given the feeling that there is a solution for every problem, you just have to keep going to reach your goal.

Now the transfer here to the Camino de Santiago. I want to find out what I can do, how tough I am. Do I give up at the first obstacle, or do I continue? Do I overcome my own physical limits? Or do I sit by the wayside and look for a way back to the couch. That is my goal: To overcome my own limits and grow as a person.

I hope that the text gives you a little insight into my life.
