Yes, I did it!

Hoʻopuka ʻia: 06.02.2019

So, my friends!

Day 2 in Santiago and I'm slowly beginning to understand what I have experienced and achieved in the last 2 weeks. Starting with the fantastic first 50 kilometers to Barcelos, in wonderful weather! After that, I fell into a hole due to the weather change! I marched for 5 days, over 80 kilometers, through rain, wind, hail, and thunderstorms. It not only became boring at some point. It also became dangerous! Walking in the woods before Rubiães in dense fog, with a visibility of 50 meters, I twisted my ankle because I slipped on a wet rock, and yet here I am, in Santiago de Compostela!

I am taking so much with me! I have already written about the topic of 'appreciation', but also that even if the situation seems hopeless, there are always ways to keep moving forward, against the wind, against everything that tries to force me to give up. Always forward, no steps back, only forward!

At times, I was close to tears and just wanted to go back home into the arms of my wife, but suddenly the world looked different again! After 5 days of constant rain and bad weather, the sun came out and the temperatures became spring-like. A reward for me for continuing.

The final 100 kilometers went smoothly. The last marches only caused physical pain and showed me once again that it is worth continuing, even if I can only take small steps. I saw beautiful cities: Pontevedra, Caldas, Santiago. I saw beautiful landscapes, waterfalls, streams, rivers. It will take some time to process all of this.

Now, I would like to thank everyone who has always pushed me forward:

Those who have read my blog and commented on my pictures on social media with recognition.

Those who have written to me personally!

And last but not least, my family and my wife at home who have strengthened me every day!

I wouldn't be where I am today without you. Thank you! ❤
