At 5:45 am the alarm rings. Odette has already made coffee and prepared a packed lunch for us. Great! We are at the KAPS Supermarket at exactly 7 o'clock. The bus arrives 20 minutes later and the driver only stops when we wave wildly. Strange guy! Everything goes very quickly at the airport and we fly in a Saab 900 through the worst weather. After 40 minutes we land in Aitutaki, a paradise with several islands and a huge lagoon. After a short tour, we board the ship and it starts raining. Even the tarpaulins are put down. Such crap!😠 15 minutes later the sky clears up and shortly afterwards everything is blue. Lucky us.😎 We visit 3 islands, make a snorkeling stop and have a great lunch on board. The rest can't really be described, it's simply paradise. Many colorful fish, giant clams, hermit crabs, lovebirds and one great beach after another. There's also some history: There are still remnants of the old jetty when Aitutaki was an international airport for a South Pacific seaplane service in the 1950s. And remnants of the runway used by the US armed forces in World War II.
We are back on Rarotonga at 5:30 pm and the bus takes us back. It has been raining here all day. Lucky us.😎 What a fantastic tour!
